Hugs will be providing 1,000 more teddies for the Comfort's deployment in June 2007.
A mom's note of thanks:
The bears are simply wonderful!!! My children were just so happy to receive them, they each have their own special teddy bear. They came with such love and the notes are great! Mary Ryan has been so sad and I can't thank you enough. I told her that Hugs Across America does this for very special children and that you are all so proud of her for standing strong while her Daddy is overseas. Her eyes just lit up and she can't wait to take her bear to school tomorrow.
Madison said "My wish came true mommy, I think Daddy heard it, I wished for a brown bear with a red ribbon to hug. The stars sent me a bear!" ...and my son Freddie just slammed it on the bed and started wrestling with it, and that means he loves it, believe it or not.
Hugs and I received an beautiful plaque, thanking us for our kindness, generosity and dedication to America's children. The thanks go to all those who support Hugs effort as we comfort children.
These men readied to deploy, said "Good Bye" to families and while kids held their bears Dads left.
The boys were using their bears for combat with the toy soldiers, as Dad headed off to Iraq.
The military men and women of the JCREW Composite Company #1 were brought together from all over the country for a specific goal in Iraq...
Several letters of thank you were received, here we share some:
To whom it may concern,
Yesterday, my son Aron received a teddy bear from Hugs Across America / JCCS-1. It said "Thank you for being brave while your Dad is helping our Country"; his Dada is in the Navy and is in Kuwait. Not only was it a surprise to me, but it sure meant a lot to my son. His Dad is going into the 4th month of his 1 year tour and it has been hard, very hard on Aron. The bear made his day!! He carries it with him and we just wanted to say "thank you " for all that you do.
These kids are so brave and moms so scared. This Yankee fan's Dad was the coach for his Little League team before he was called back to Iraq.
In a letter from the Office of the Commanding General... Major General William Terpeluk,

Your organization provides the children of our soldiers love and comfort at a time of great need.
As the Commanding General of the 77th, I am grateful to you and Hugs Across America for the generous support you provide to the Soldiers and their families. Your organization is a true asset to my command and the U.S. Army."
