“HUGGABLE TEDDY BEARS IN ACTION”
Scene one: Laughter, meeting, food, drinks, and new friendships created. Each person giving a donation to Hugs Across America.
Scene two: Four adults walk into Georgetown University Hospital with bags full of 50 teddy bears, each “bearing” a special note of love and care to its intended recipient.
Scene one: Laughter and hypnosis. These services were donated by a provider so as guests mingled, ate and made new friends, some were in a “special area” where their minds were given the opportunity to simply relax and rejuvenate.
Scene two: Sad faces turn to smiles as the adults give teddy bears to children with cancer. Energy in the children’s ward buzzes as teddy bears make kids of all ages laugh, meet, and connect.
Scene one: A basement filled with happy adults looking to give back some of their abundance. Teddy bears magically coming together, notes attached to each of them and lovingly placed in the “finished” area.
Scene two: Children’s dreams being protected and guided by their new friends. When the kids wrap their tiny little arm around the teddy bears, they almost hear the laughter, the almost feel the friends and they surely feel the love and compassion of strangers, coming together, becoming friends and giving, helping, healing.
Dear friends, you and only you are responsible for the above. Your kindness and generosity helped us to collect donations and stuffed 80 teddy bears.
Please let me know if you are interested in hosting a “Hugs” event, have an idea for a fundraiser, or would like to serve as Webmaster/Web Developer for the Washington Chapter of Hugs Across America.
I’ve also posted pictures from our delivery to Georgetown University Hospital on Facebook. Likewise, you may join the Washington Chapter of Hugs Across America by clicking on the following Meetup.com.
