This fundraiser was a quick return to school idea. We sold little bears with candy kisses and “Thinking of you” or “Just because” notes and delivered them to the special recipient. It was a GREAT success! We sold about 130 little bears…and everyone enjoyed it …. so yayyy!
I delivered 30 more bears to the Family Counseling Services of the Finger Lakes and provided bears for the local American Red Cross, and will continue our work with the hospital.
April 2007 Update
The Hobart William Smith Colleges group has delivered bears to this Family Service center for use in their sexual abuse and domestic violence program. The Chapter in Geneva, NY is also providing teddies to the Geneva General Hospital pediatric unit. The students are doing a terrific job!!
The Hugs Chapter at Hobart William Smith Colleges has spent the year developing, fundraising and distributing teddies. The students meet regularly to plan events and activities on campus and encourage students to participate in community service. They have had a very successful year and look forward to starting up again in the fall. Both the Geneva General Hospital and the Family Counseling Service of the Finger Lakes are delighted to receive teddies for their young patients. Great job girls!!

How we started
With the help of Coach Scott Ikle, Head Sailing Coach for the Colleges, Stephanie Wells and Katie Smith started encouraging students to participate in a new community service idea. Over 25 students signed up to help!
They have already had their first fundraiser, collected bears, tagged and distributed to a local counseling center for sexual abuse and domestic violence!
This group has a winning combination of enthusiasm and creativity … they will do wonders!
